The Treatment Plan

This has been an important week. Ned's treatment has started. Thursday was his first day of radiation. Here the technician is lining him up to slip him into the CT scan machine where the radiation is directed directly to the cancer.

Today he started chemo. We arrived at 8 AM and put Ned in this little room with a comfy chair, a TV and view of the tree tops around Rice University. They inserted an IV and started the drips. We received lots of information about the chemos and about controlling side effects. So far, so good. But the best part is that we are one week closer to going home.

Billie,
Please tell Ned that I think he looks great. Tell him that Gina and I said Hi and we look forward to seeing him again. Gina knows exactly what he is going through because she went through Chemotherapy and Radiation when she had her mastectomy. I am sure that Ned has heard this quite a bit but she says to tell him that the best way to fight cancer is with faith, tranquility, and a positive attitude. All I can add to that is "Amen!"

You have said it best, Billie. I am looking foward to seeing the two of you when I can make my SMA trip.

In his usual understated way, Ned looks like he's just reading the paper. What a trooper.

Love ya'll

I'm glad to see you documenting this....and good to see Ned has a very stiff upper lip under all that hair.

Big bear hug and a sloppy moose kiss from Canada.

We are thinking about you a lot.

Looking forward to another bread baking show in San Miguel.

Love to Ned--what a trooper! Judy and I are thinking of you both, every day.

It turns out that my time last week in SMA was spent on Calle San Jorge, right around the corner from your house. Your house got lots of good wishes for your safe return.

I haven't been keeping up with my blog reading since I have been in Canada with my mom, so am late in commenting on what is happening with Ned and you. I wish you both all the best and hope that things go well. Take care.
