Curatorial Independence and The Art Business
Today the New York Times has an article about art dealers making contributions to Museums and specifically contributions that help the Museum show the work of artist they represent. I can understand that with reduced funding from Corporations and from other sources that the Museums often need these funds. But no matter how the Museums insist that they maintain their curatorial independence, I think that this situation isn't good. Those who have the money, have the power to influence what is chosen and what isn't chosen. It is a slippery slope for the Museums.
