Seeing in the Dark

A wedding carriage waiting for the bride and groom in front of the Parroquia. What is great about this picture? Not much except it was shot at f1.4 at 1/40 of a second at 3200 ISO. There is some noise in the file but very little, very smooth and with a little noise reduction, I think it is a printable image.

I'm loving the Canon 5D Mark II camera.

You may be seeing more low-light photography from me.

Beautiful image!
Were you hand holding the camera and was it at night?
These new cameras are absolutely incredible!

Rick, I was handholding and it was at night. The lighting around the Jardin use to be brighter but now it is hard to shoot there unless you do crank it up to 3200 ISO or put the camera on a tripod. Even on the tripod at slower shutter speeds you run into the issue of people moving.

I'm not gonna' say it, I'M NOT GONNA' SAY IT! Oh, yes, I am -- I told you you'd like the 5D2.

Oh, Billie! Very, very nice picture. You should print it for sure! I've been practicing my low light skills, but I have a long, long way to go. My last two posts demonstrate exactly what I mean! My biggest challenge has been keeping a steady hand. I'm usually ok if I can find a wall or something to lean against.
