Tattoo Studio

This has been a busy day that ended up with some photography on Westheimer Street at a tattoo studio. No I didn't get a tattoo but I did really irritate the owner of this place. I'd made a couple of photos from the sidewalk but about the time I moved on to the parking area he saw me. I managed to get one photograph before he told me to get off his property. I love these tattoo studios. The neon lights are so great.

Earlier today....about noon....I went with Ned when he headed out to radiation. He dropped me at Rice University. Rice has giant old oaks planted along the streets that bound the university. It is great to walk the 3+ mile path under the shade of the trees. But today it was hot....93 degrees, humid and still. At one point I was overheated and I sat down at a bus stop and polished off my bottle of water. The important thing is I got my walk in.

Ned had to meet with the dietitian after radiation. Once again they asked him if he was loosing weight. Noooooo....that isn't a problem. He picked me up just a block or two from the university and we stopped for lunch at Bubba's Burgers. That is definitely another blog entry after I get some photographs of the place.

I'll post some more photographs later from lower Westheimer but this is my favorite tattoo studio.

I studied this photo for a long time. I just love it. I almost typed it was my favorite of all your Houston images, but then I remembered those wonderful old houses in the East End and the Buffalo Bayou ones and those red, red tables from a few days ago.

I have no idea which is my favorite, but I love them all.

That tatoo parlor looks like the new camera in play....

I'm with Cynthia, there's something very appealing about this photo. It's very straight-on, no angle, no editorial.
Night time and glass front, I'm guessing these are difficult to control in photography.

You're making Houston look interesting.

Dana, Houston is interesting! But you know that.

Pitchertaker it is the new camera.

Cynthia, I'm glad you are liking my tour of Houston.

I love this photo too. The reds and the blues of it are striking but then all your photos are striking. Have a great Thursday.

Please divulge the brand and model of your new camera. If you've blogged about it already, forgive this newbie. I haven't had time to go through the archives to see if you've mentioned it somewhere. I'm in the market for a new camera, and I want a really good one this time. Not that I'm expecting my pictures to come out as great as yours, but I'll take any advantage I can get. Cynthia nailed it, the red tables and all the vibrant colors, simply gorgeous.

Oh, and you brought back a flood of memories with Shaw's. It's the place that I got my one and only tattoo almost 20 years ago. It's pretty fugly now, but it's still a good reminder of my former crazy days & crazy ways.

Susan, I think I mentioned in one blog that I was ordering a new camera but I haven't written about it yet. It is on my possible blog entry list. I'll try to write about it in the next day or so but it is a Canon 5D Mark II.

Back in the 1980s, my daughter and I went into this very place. I lived nearby. She got a small tropical bird tattooed on her shoulder.

A few years later, just like you, I took a camera and stood about where you obviously stood. I took a picture of the place. And some guy came out and wanted to know why. I told him. He went back in. In the 1980s, I looked quite formidable, plus I had tattoos too, and not a tropical bird among them.

I doubt you look formidable.

I framed the photo and sent it to my daughter for a present. She likely still has it.

Small world, eh?

Wow, Felipe, thank you for telling me this story. It is a small world. And it reinforces the point that things that trigger taking a photograph are seen and felt by many.
