Gorditas

There are so many vendors who set up a little "kitchen" on the street and sell food. This vendor found a spot among the plant sellers in Parque Juarez and she was making gorditas with about 5 different fillings. She had a few chairs where you could sit down and eat but a gordita is a handy pocket filled with savory food. Definitely fast food that you can eat on the run.

Mmmm I smell the aroma of fresh tortillas, which is what they basically are. Open and filled. Let's see, I'll take mine with my recipe filling of
"Cabbage Ala Spanish." That's cabbage, onions, jalapeno's, tomatoes, S&P and all just stir fried or until the onions and jalapenos have softened. It's delicious. Thx for sharing.

Billie -- Two things I really like about this photograph. One. Its composition. The forms. The line. The flow. Two. Your choice of black and white format. This piece works well.

I am amazed by where Gorditas are frequently seen throughout Mexico. In Coahuila where we used to live Gorditas were a common breakfast. Now that we live in Monterrey they are replaced by tacos in the mornings. The fillings & size does vary so much from location to location here. A few years ago I bought 2 small Gordita iron presses that were used in Coahila by the cooks there. I don't see the same method everywhere though. Nice food photo! (Gorditas are my weakness, ha,ha!)
