Family Brunch

Rituals tie families together. Births, weddings, funerals, a family shower, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other special holidays when the whole family comes together to celebrate the event. We have a special event this weekend. It is the wedding of our nephew Kevin and his soon to be wife Jennifer. Last night was the wedding rehearsal dinner. There is a whole new generation of kids, and most of these kids were boy kids, running around, double dipping in the dips, making a mess of the chocolate fountain, having an end of the night tantrum. It was fun to see their parents chasing after them. It was wonderful to sit and visit with family that we haven't seen in a while.

I don't know how many slept in Mike and Betsy's house last night....maybe 10 or 12 of us. This morning by 8:30 the kids were up and the basketball was bouncing against the backboard. Betsy and Susan made breakfast for all of us. It was a leisurely morning in the kitchen and around the table. Lots of talk about what year something happened or who remembers great uncle so and so as four generations of the family broke bread together.

It is an afternoon wedding so it's time to get dressed and go celebrate the beginning of another family cycle.
