What is Fear Of Color?
Yes, there really is a phobia of color and it is defined as "a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of colors."
Well, I don't think I really have THE Fear of Color or Chromophobia or Chromatophobia, but I sure am obsessing about the colors for the renovation. My friend Joseph who is fearless with color, helped me pick out some colors to work from. We put samples on the wall but they seemed a little too dark and the green was muddy. So Ned and I went and bought some more samples and put them on the wall. By now the wall is beginning to look like Joseph's coat of many colors.
Since I'm using Gorky Gonzales' tiles behind the stove and since I've been collecting his pottery for years, I want to work from his color palette. I think I've got it together now. The painters are buying the paint tomorrow and will start painting on Saturday. So before too long I'll post some pictures of my house of Gorky colors.

Well, if the colors you've picked are at all like that beautiful cup, I for one will love them. No color phobia here!
Test the paint after the painters bring it, I've found that separate batches here are rarely the same.
When we were deciding on the colors for our condo, I had stripes of color all over the place. Some of them took several coats to cover, oops!
Really, I love those colors on that cup.
I can't wait to see it.
WARNING! If yo have color phobia DON'T come to Mexico! For the rest of us - you gotta love it!
Juan
With those colors how could it not look good.
Have to agree with Juan, anyone who loves white and beige would not do well down here. LOL

We recently bought a new house and the builder of course just painted everything white with the lowest quality paint possible. So we've slowly but surly have been working our way through the house to repaint. Our bathroom was like you described your kitchen to be. I told my husband it was beginning to look like a Sherwin Williams store! :)
Congrats on finding what you like. The colors in the vase you have pictures are just beautiful.
Hi Billie: Well, your blog pushed all kinds of buttons for me and I think I'll have to write a blog on color since it has such significance and I used to lecture on the "use of color" and it's impact.........Certain colors increase food consumption so are frequently used in restaurants, etc etc etc. It is a faxcinating subject! I found that people in northern climates were more intimidated by color then southern areas! I could go on and on.....
Barb
Hey, Barb, Go for it. I'll look forward to reading your blog. They are painting as I type and so far so good.
Melyssa, I understand about the Sherwin Williams Store look. LOL
Actually, to all of you who wrote, I was in a quandary about some of the aspects of putting the colors together until last night. I keep looking and thinking about the right combination of Gorky colors but I think I have it right now. At least I think I'm going to like it. Right or wrong. Color is such a personal matter. One friend who is an artist, came by and she doesn't like green and she doesn't like the Gorky pottery so she wasn't too excited about what I'm doing but I do like his color palette to I'm doing it.
