Staying Young

In the last couple of weeks I've been able to get back to yoga. I know from my experience that doing yoga gives me flexibility, balance and strength as well as a calmer mind. All of these advantages make me feel younger. The question becomes why don't I do it all the time even when we have to be in Houston. I can make a hundred excuses why I don't and I'm not going to list them all to you....too embarrassing.

This week this video has been flitting around on Facebook.........
95 year old Maia Helles a Russian born ballet dancer, who trained in Paris, shows us, by example, how she remains forever young. Shot in the idyllic, peaceful Fire Island, New York, where she has resided every summer since 1959, Julia Warr has captured, with a moving sound track by esteemed friend and composer Lola Perrin, the simple rhythms of her daily life which have kept her as fit and healthy as a forty year old.

In the video Maia Helles is seen moving gracefully through yoga poses and exercises. The wrinkles are there, the age spots, the gray hair but the body still  has the strength and flexibility of someone much younger than her 95 years. None of us know how long we are going to live but for how ever long it might be I think I better give up my excuses and do my yoga practice daily.

See the video about Maia Helles here.

Billie, this is truly beautiful and certainly speaks to growing old gracefully.

I'm catching up on reading some blog posts and this is why I didn't just hit "show all as read" for your blog. It always speaks to me. I'll be making sure I'm pulling my yoga mat out today. I put it off keeping up with a daily practice, but this is why I need to.

Thanks!!!
