Clean Sheets

Okay, I know you are looking at an unmade bed and the title is Clean Sheets. I like clean sheets and while this bed is unmade the sheets are clean. Oh it is so delicious to slip into a bed where the sheets have just been changed. I grew up in a house where the beds were stripped and the sheets were washed every week. That is the way I have run my house too. I thought that everyone changed their sheets every week.

My assumption must be wrong. Recently I've seen a commercial on television for a laundry detergent that starts off telling you that a survey showed that some 30% of  Canadians did not change their sheets even once every thirty days. EEeuuu! Therefore you should use their detergent because it was the best at getting body oils and dirt out of the sheets. I have some Canadian friends and I think that they change their sheets every week. I don't know who the 30% are who don't but I hope they mend their ways.

At home most laundry was dried in the dryer, but bed linens were hung outside, and I think they were changed more than once a week. Didn't know how to make my bed when I got to boarding school, but you learn quick because a nickle had to bounce. There was definitely an EEeuuu factor while at college, but since then, once a week is the standard. That chocolate cream pie sounds like home too.

Billie! you beat me to a blog post yet again! I have been pondering that commercial since I first saw it, I can't get it out of my mind. Are they really serious? Could there be that many Canadians who don't wash their sheets for over a month? Is that also true of Americans but no one studied it? It boggles the mind.

I also have never forgotten the envy I felt when I was quite young and read a story about Jackie Kennedy's life and found out that she not only had her sheets changed daily but also after every nap, and she napped every day. I was jealous even without the fact that she only slept on Porthault sheets.

Maybe the Canadians sleep under piles of furs in the corner and don't need sheets. I like to be charitable, you know.

I'm glad to confirm that there people who read my blog wash their sheets once a week.

Jonna, don't know how I managed to get ahead of you on this one. LOL

Steve, I don't feel comfortable about sleeping on piles of furs either. How do you keep them clean?

I am aghast that there are people in the world who aren't like us. Don't they know that it's G-d's will that the bed be stripped every Friday morning?

Jennifer, the beds must absolutely be stripped on Mondays. Wherever did you get the idea that it was Friday?

I change the sheets every Saturday early morning. I wash them and hang them out to dry so that they can blow in the wind and smell fresh. I have found out that there is no need to have an abundance of sheets in the hallway closet. It's just my hubber's and I and all we need is two sets. I do have to admit that this Saturday I did not change the sheets so tomorrow I will do it first thing in the morning before I leave to have fun shopping. Tee hee. Take care and hope you and yours are doing well.

Ewwww! I must wash my sheets once a week. I can't wait until I can live some where I can hang the sheets outside as I love the smell of sheets from the clothesline. But sadly our homeowners association rules don't permit clothes lines.

EEeww - haven't seen that commercial, thankfully. I don't have a set day -either Monday or Friday depending on when Josefina is here but I do LOVE the feeling and anticipation of clean sheets......

I change the sheets when I start to stick to them in the mornings. I take it as a sign.

I'm Canadian and neither sleep under furs nor change my sheets every week...I don't count the days but this morning was clean sheets day...seems about an every other weekend chore....I sooo hate housework!
