New Moon

I know, I know, I have a lot of photos on the blog of a new moon but I can't help myself. We were on the terrace watching this evening from when the new moon was just a glow on the horizon until it cleared the mountain.

Is that tonight's full moon? Brightest and biggest of the year it is. And we Oregonians will miss it. December clouds. Thanks for sharing.

Magnificent! And anyway, it was a special moon, closest to the earth since 1993. The tides went radical.

My pics turned out awful. Your pics are fabulous! I have gotta take a class or do some serious reading on how to use my camera.

Thanks to all of you. It was a beautiful moon.

Calypso, the technical stuff. All of these were shot with my 70-200 mm f4 lens. I rolled up a jacket and placed it under the lens instead of going downstairs for a jacket. They were all shot in RAW mode, converted and adjusted in Photoshop CS3.
The first three were shot at 113 mm. 1 and 2 were at f4 1/8 sec at 1600 ISO with -1 exposure compensation
3 was at f4 1/15 sec -2 exposure compensation at 1600 ISO.
The 4th shot was at 200 mm, f4 1/8 sec. -2 exposure compensation and 1600 ISO. And that is the technical story.
