Sign-in

I found something new today in Houston. Although I've seen a table setup in the drugstore or grocery store where you could stop and get your flu shot this was new to me. In Walgreen's Drug Store they now have a "Take Care Clinic" where you can see a nurse practioneer for minor illnesses and get vaccinations. Flu, Gardasil, Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus and several others. The most expensive one is for Shingles. They are open seven days a week including weeknights.

I signed in, waited a few minutes and got my flu shot and they will file with my insurance company for reimbursement. I like this idea.

Yes, and for what I know soon they are going to have a Dr. on site. Places like target, wal-mart,walgreens...all those that have a pharmacy. Nice

I too think that is a great idea. I have a Walgreens right down the street but they don't have that as of yet. I think I will ask them about the "Take Care Clinic," and if they plan on having it here. Thanks for the info.

Billie - how much was that shot for shingles? My sister had one, and I've thought it would be a good thing. Can't get it in MX, but maybe next time I'm in the states...

It's nice that they're doing flu and tetanus too. Very civilized.

Babs, The last time we took a flu shot in SMA it cost $250 pesos. It was the same here...$25.

1st mate the shingles vaccine is very expensive $220.
But read here about shingles in people over 60. Seems like it might be worth it

Sounds like a cool idea! I'm wondering right now if my company nurse will be scheduling flu shots this year. Usually we see that by now, but I haven't. I hope they don't cancel that program.
