Solola, Guatemala

The holga was hanging around my neck. I saw this beautiful woman approaching in her embroidered huipil. I tilted the camera without bringing it to my eye and pressed the shutter release. I didn't know at the time if I would have her in the frame or that the colors, shapes and forms in the background would work. See.....I keep saying that sometimes the holga angel can be on your shoulder.

My theory is that we are surrounded by perfect photographs -- and we often get in the way. Thank you for capturing this moment -- and sharing it.

Love that Holga magic.

Great shot! I love spontaneous pics like that. I would have loved to see more pics of her huipil, and closeups of the embroidery. I wonder if she would have said yes to a request?

Angel or not, don't discount the years your finger has been pushing that little black button on your toy camera. Deb mentions magic, but remember what Ansel said: "Sometimes I think I do get to places just when God is ready to have somebody click the shutter." Gifts are gifts, and the gift horse doesn't need his mouth inspected everytime we come up with a good image. IOW's give yourself some credit, too.
