Ratatouille's Mexican Cousin

Yikes, we have a mouse in the kitchen....a gourmet mouse. We found evidence of his taste in a kitchen drawer that holds zip-lock bags of supplies. He did not go for the bay leaves, or the domestic pasta, or cumin seeds. No.......this is a mouse that has a discerning palate. He likes dried cherries, imported pasta, candied ginger, wild rice and Israeli toasted couscous. But he is a delicate eater, just tearing tiny holes in the zip-lock bags. I don't see how he really got a taste of any thing. Hell, maybe he just likes to eat zip-lock bags.

But never fear, Ned the mighty mouse hunter has gone into action. Remy of Ratatouille fame will soon be in mourning for his tiny Mexican cousin.

Yes, well all his cousins are over here! And, after Attack Man Ned figures out how to catch them will you let me know? I put out the sticky stuff on Sunday night and promptly left town , so I wouldn't be here on Monday and the gardener could carry out the "creatures"...came home to know footprints in the "sticky" stuff and so I don't know if I "got" any or not.........YUK!

The same thing was happening to a friend of mine. Just a teensy little corner chewed out of the bag. She put out a baited mousetrap and guess what the varmit was? A baby iguana! So don't be surprised if that is what you catch!

We loved that movie - except for the fact that we HATE mice - fun as it was it didn't change my attitude - we really were harangued by rodents in Colorado - only get a dark mouse now and again in Xico.

Stopped by D & C's yesterday afternoon, and Carrie was busy putting her cupboards back in order. Remy's Mexican cousin had been there, too!

Deb, Babs and Juan.....We have had a visitor a time or two before. Seems like it happens in the rainy season. Wayne, Now that I think about it, I've never seen an Iguana here.

But never fear, Ned the mouse hunter has trapped it. But he is staying in the ready-mode, just in case this one had a brother.

Has Taylor been sleeping on the job? Or is he not a rat-spotter?

Hard-working Goodman the Love Slave alerts me to whenever there's a rodent in the vicinity. Of course, now that he's approaching his 9th birthday, he no longer catches rats and mice himself.

Jennifer, Unfortunately,Taylor doesn't have a talent for rat-spotting. In fact I think the only talent he has is being able to fall asleep in an instant.

This reminds me of another movie: "Forget Paris." Deborah Winger finds a mouse in her boyfriend's house and puts out the sticky stuff but catches a pigeon instead. She tries to rescue the bird, the bird tries to fly over her head and the whole sticky thing ends up stuck to Deborah's face! Then she decides to drive to vet for help. Caramba! One of the funniest scenes I've seen on film. Oh, and the sticky stuff never worked for us. I think they're wise to it.

What a great post - likening your mouse to Ratatoille - little Marcos' FAVORITE movie (ok, it's literally the only movie he's ever seen). But he asks for it nearly daily, "To-tooy! To-tooy!"
