Third Anniversary

I'm running a little late with this announcement but March 17th was the third anniversary of this blog. Yes indeed, 970 blog posts later and I'm still writing. If this were a wedding anniversary I'd give myself something made from leather for a traditional gift or if I wanted to be more modern, it would be something made of crystal/glass. But I guess a blog anniversary isn't the same thing so I'll just count the Social Club folk art piece that we bought in the Uruapan Folk Art market as a reward for keeping on with keeping on writing the blog.

At times I've wondered if I should continue to blog because the initial reason that I started the blog was to keep family updated on what was happening with us in Mexico. I guess they read it but I think that because they know what we are doing, they aren't nearly as careful about letting us know what they are doing.

The Sitemeter tells me that my readership has gradually grown. This is good but I sometimes wonder who the heck that readership is. Very few people comment so most of my readers are mystery readers. And I wonder why people I don't know read Billieblog. It is a smorgasbord of topics. Do they read because of an interest in Mexico, an interest in photography, or something else?

Right now I have a backlog of topics to write about but in another week I could be searching and wondering if I shouldn't close the blog down. However, for today, Happy Belated Anniversary, Billieblog.

Billie, I'm with Babs on this, your blog is like coffee with a friend.
Understanding how time consuming they can become, I still hope you continue. Your insights and photography would be missed.

Fondly, Mi the one handed typer :)

Hi Billie,
I really love your photos and glimpses into your life and Mexico as you see it. More than anything, I find myself at your blog most days just to look for new photos. You are such a talented artist!

It's because your writing is intimate and insightful but also careful and a bit detached. I admire your steady and creative hand. I so want to visit your fine little city no more than ever! Many happy returns...

Hi Billie,
Happy Anniversary! I stumbled across your blog over a year ago and have been reading it, off and on since then.

I love your insights about San Miguel and the Mexican culture and traditions and your wonderful photography as well. I was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico but have been living in the United States for almost 30 years. I consider myself a fellow Houstonian as well since most of my life has been here in the states. By the way, through your blog, I also found out about Someburger and whenever I'm on that side of town, I like to order a burger....its one of the best!

Hope that you continue to write your blog.
Greetings from Houston, TX

Congratulations.... I know what an effort and commitment it takes to do this and I admire your persistence. I'm only at 4 months, 50 entries and sometimes feel overwelmed and exhausted. And for someone who only a few months ago was questioning where the blog was going and if you were going to continue... You certainly have kept going! Felizidades!!!

Thanks to everyone. So nice to know a bit about the readers. If my last paragraph sounded like I'm thinking about closing down the blog....I'm not....except when I don't know what to write for a few days and then along will come a string of ideas. Life just happens and most of it is funny or interesting...at least to me and I guess some of you too.

Thank you each and everyone for reading along.

Billie, You are my inspiration in so many ways, blogging included. Congratulations on 3 years and more than 900 entries. If you quit blogging, I'll just call you on the phone more often. I think that is reason enough to continue...

Hi, I'm another "mystery reader" from Southern California. Found your blog because of my interest in Mexico. Every now and then I check in to see the nice pictures and dream of a day when maybe I will move down there to enjoy a quieter life in beautiful San Miguel. Keep up the good work!

Congrats on the anniversary! I can sure relate to what you say about having a ton of ideas and then, blam, nothing!

I hadn't really given any thought as to why I visit your blog time and time again. It just felt good so I continued to do it. But the people who have said it is like having morning coffee with a friend hit it right on the head. What a lovely compliment they have paid you.

Even though I don't always (like as in Never) understand it when you get technical about photography, I read what you have to say voraciously, in the hopes that I will learn something. And guess what? I have!

I see the kettles boiling so I will just go get us a another cup now.
