No problem, we walked a block further and went into Tio Lucas. We had to wait in the bar for about 20 minutes. At one point they told us they had a large table and they would sit several couples if we would like to join the "communal table." We looked at each other and both said, "No, thank you." We just wanted to be with each other. We were seated at a table right in front of the bandstand. The waiter said that they would not start until 9:30.
We had drinks, studied the menu, munched on the guacamole that was put on the table and finally ordered steaks along with a Cesar salad. Steaks just seemed like the right thing last night. We have eaten very little beef since we returned after Christmas and certainly not anything as large as a steak. And we talked and talked. The Cesar salad was prepared at the table with great flourish.
The band, actually a trio, started coming in and connecting up their instruments and we realized that Joe Warner was playing tonight. We had met Joe and Venae several years ago right after they moved to San Miguel and we have seen Joe play in a number of groups but tonight he was the "leader."
Our steaks arrived, done perfectly....not like a steak from Morton's but still delicious. The music was great, not too loud, just right for dinner so we lingered long after the table had been cleared. No one rushed us to pay the bill and leave so the table could turn over. Finally we decided it was time to head for home. The walk back to our casa was a nice way to end the evening. It was a nice Date Night.
