The Pond - Moonlight
Made in 1904 by Edward Steichen and sold for $75 in 1906. Sold at auction in 2006 by Sotheby's for $2,928,000.

It would be interesting to know how much $75.00 in 1906 dollars represents today. Might it be a 100 fold increase?

Well if it isn't inflation there is a whole lot of appreciation from $75 to almost 3 million.
